Valentines day is considered one of the most romantic days of the year. The day when couples can be shamefully in love and express their love in a over the top romantic way. To make sure this February the 14th is a memorable one for all the right reasons. Here is my list of the 5 worst Valentine’s day gift ideas.
1. Any household electrical appliance.
You would think that this is a “no brainer”. Yet there are still plenty of clueless men out there who think that this is a way of “helping” their partner around the home. Take home lesson for the guys, iron’s, washing machines or cooking appliances are not going to win you any favours this Valentines day. If you are looking to romance your partner at home try purchasing an item that will help her relax, or create a peaceful mood – like an MP3 player with her favourite music.
2. Overtly tacky or cheesy Valentines gifts
Will it might have looked like a good idea in the shop, chances are that unless you are 16, she won’t find it overly romantic. By all means look for a gift that is meaningful or has a romantic sentiment behind it.
3. Jewellery in a ring sized box.
Unless you are actually looking to propose this Valentine’s day, giving your lady a gift wrapped present in a ring box, is sure to end in upset. Most ladies know that there are 4 main proposal dates in any given year (Christmas, New Years, their birthday, Valentines day), so giving her a box that size is sure to send quivers down her spine with anticipation. If you do purchase a nice piece of jewellery for her this Valentine’s day like earrings or a pendant, try wrapping your gift in a larger box.
4. Fake flowers
While you might be thinking that the financial outlay for something that will die in a few weeks is not worth it, do not resort to fake flowers. They send the wrong message. If you only buy your partner flowers a few times a year – this is one of them. Ladies also like to receive them at work, it not only brightens up their desk, but shows all the other ladies in the office how fantastic you are.
5. Dinner at a fast food outlet
If you have left the planning of your special day to the last minuet and all the best romantic restaurants are already full, going to the local fast food outlet, is not likely to set the best mood. It would be better to try and prepare something simple (that you know you can master) at home, with some romantic candle lighting and her favourite music.
Would love to hear your thoughts, if you have had any of these in the past, or if there were some even better that i missed. Please email your comments to me at [email protected]
