By Hand
Every diamond that we offer must meet criteria that guarantees it will sparkle beautifully for a lifetime. With over 4 decades or purchasing diamonds from the best diamond cutters in Russia and Belgium we can guarantee that your diamond has been optimised for beauty and value. For every 40 diamonds that Karl evaluates, only 1 makes its way into our diamond boxes.
He first looks at the diamond without magnification, viewing it for the first time just as you would. Then examining the inside and out under 10x magnification, looking for every inclusion, its size, orientation and location in the diamond to insure that your diamond is eye clean without any large centre black inclusions for your complete
piece of mind.

Visual performance
No two diamonds are the same, despite having the same paperwork. Karl chooses only the diamonds that display extraordinary brilliance, dispersion and scintillation. From his 20 years in the industry hand picking diamonds and learning from some of the best diamond cutters, your diamond’s sparkle will be the envy of your friends. Particularly when you are looking at fancy cut diamonds like pear, oval, marquise, heart or princess cut diamonds the visual performance is vitally important as there is no overall cut grade given to fancy cut diamonds on the GIA report.

What's Out there?
Earth mined diamonds.
Mined Diamond are formed under high temperature and pressure conditions that exist only about 100 miles beneath the earth’s surface, most being formed more than a billion years ago, deep in the earth’s mantle. It’s special combination of mostly carbon with small traces of nitrogen, crystal structure, and formation process that gives diamonds the qualities that make them extraordinary.
The average yield in most diamond mines is approximately 1 part diamond to 1 million parts host rock. The top five producing countries by volume of production are Russia, Botswana, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Australia and Canada. Russia holds what is believed to be the world's largest and richest diamond resources.
At Xennox Diamonds we make sure our customers receive conflict-free diamonds by only purchasing diamonds through professional members of the diamond trade, supporting contracts guaranteeing all our diamonds are responsibly sourced.

Laboratory Grown Diamonds
Also called man-made, created, or newborn diamonds, lab-grown diamonds are manufactured in a laboratory by simulating natural conditions of extreme heat and pressure onto a mined, natural diamond crystal seed. There are essentially two methods for creating diamonds; high pressure, high temperature and chemical vapour deposition. Both mined and lab-grown diamonds are identical in chemical, optical, molecular and physical composition. The FTC in America (which is the equivalent to out ACCC) on the 2nd August 2018 stated that “A diamond is a diamond no matter whether it is grown in a lab or comes out of the ground.”
Diamonds were first created in a lab in the 1950’s. However, they weren’t gem quality diamonds that could be used in jewellery. Over the past few decades, the process was further perfected. However, only in the last few years has it been possible to produce large white gem quality diamonds that meet diamonds in terms of desirability.
To the naked eye there is virtually no difference between a natural mined diamond and a lab-grown diamond. Because the two are very difficult to differentiate, we practice complete disclosure and even have our lab-grown diamonds laser inscribed and jewellery tagged differently than our earth-mined diamonds and jewellery.
Lab-grown diamonds are not better or worse than earth-mined diamonds, just different and at the end of the day it just comes down to personal choice. Learn more about our lab-grown diamond selection from ALTR.
