While some might say that the beginning of the Xennox Story began in 1976 when Wolfgang opened one of the first Brisbane jewellers specialising in manufacturing. The truth is, Wolfgang’s love affair with jewellery began in 1960 when he first learnt the art of creating unique hand crafted pieces in Germany where he began his apprenticeship, learning from some of Europe’s best master jewellers.
For the next five years worked as a jeweller in Munich, Geneva and Paris, where he became a master jeweller in handcrafted individual pieces. He has worked in Switzerland, South Africa and Japan under the tutelage of the world’s jewellery masters. In 1970 he immigrated to Australia, where he worked for Percy Marks and Chellinis.
Wanting to share his love of jewellery with clients on the gold coast, Wolfgang opened the second Xennox in 1980 in the Cavill Mall in Surfers. In the years that followed he won numerous jewellery design awards including the DeBeers Supreme Design Award.
In the years that followed and with the expansion Brisbane, Wolfgang decided to move from the city plaza to the Wintergarden in 1982 with the iconic timber shop front, which was the first of its kind.
Now having a young family, it was important to him to make sure that his children grew up sharing his love of jewellery. From the early age of 7, his oldest son Karl, showed an interest in the jewellery trade, and would often come into the shop on weekends. As Karl become older, he would not only learn to fashion basic rings out of silver, but also converse with clients who frequented the store.
It was in 1995 that Karl, decided to make jewellery his lifelong passion and follow in his father’s footsteps to join the family business. Together they decided to create a new design studio, with a focus on providing high quality handmade engagement and wedding rings, which they named Xennox Diamond World. The ideal location for this new store was at their larger upstairs showroom on the 2nd level of the National Australia Bank building just off the Queen St Mall.
In 2005, an exciting opportunity arose for Xennox Diamond World to move to the prestigious Queen St Mall. Located in the centre of one of Australia’s busiest mall’s enabled more clients to experience their unique method of selecting the perfect diamond engagement ring and wedding rings.
January 2013 saw the re-branding of Xennox Diamond World to the new Xennox Diamonds. Representing a new fresh look that was in line with Xennox’s commitment to redefining what a jewellery store experience should be like.
In 2014, Xennox Diamonds was awarded Jeweller of the year at the Wedding and Events of Australia Excellence awards, for their exceptional service and exquisite craftsmanship.
