Many people are confused as to how the 4Cs affect price, or which it the most important. The best explanation is that asking for the price of a diamond is like asking for the price of a house.

A real estate agent can’t quote you a price for a house without knowing its size, condition, location, etc, or ultimately tell you which is the best house for you. This is true for a diamond as well. Specific preferences in cut, clarity, carat and colour will affect a diamond’s price, and beauty.

When you begin searching for a diamond, it is helpful if you have an idea of those characteristics that are most important to you. Would you like the diamond to sparkle (cut), be white (colour) have minor imperfections (clarity) or be big (carat). Most women will often say sparkle, quickly followed by size. A diamond’s beauty, rarity, and price depend on the interplay of all the 4Cs-cut, clarity, carat, and colour. The more rare the diamond’s characteristics the higher the price.

At Xennox Diamond World, we will help you choose the diamond that is best for you, so that you are paying for a difference you can see, and not paying for a difference that you can’t.

Here is a small video from the GIA, to show you how they grade their diamonds.
